Water quality in the Pondo River, Poboya, is subject to environmental pressures associated with activities along the watershed. This study evaluated water quality using physicochemical parameters and heavy metals and determined the overall status using the STORET method. Water samples from upstream and downstream sections were compared. The evaluated parameters included total dissolved solids, total suspended solids, turbidity, pH, dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand, copper, cadmium, lead, zinc, and iron. Total dissolved solids decreased from 162 to 146 mg/L, whereas total suspended solids increased from 11.2 to 21 mg/L. Turbidity increased from 3 to 4 NTU, pH from 7.2 to 7.4, biochemical oxygen demand from 0.94 to 1.73 mg/L, and chemical oxygen demand from 2.02 to 2.67 mg/L. Dissolved oxygen decreased from 6.67 to 6.47 mg/L. Copper, cadmium, lead, and zinc were not detected, whereas iron increased from 0.038 to 0.047 mg/L. The total STORET score was −2, placing the reported water quality in the good category. The findings demonstrate measurable spatial changes in river-water quality and support continued monitoring, including assessment of metals in sediment and aquatic biota.
