Pendampingan Penyelenggaraan Pertandingan Catur Sistem Swiss Tujuh Babak Pada Klub Catur Langkah Gaib Banjarmasin

This community service activity aimed to provide technical assistance in organizing a seven-round Swiss-system chess tournament at the Langkah Gaib Chess Club in Banjarmasin as part of the celebration of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. The main challenges in community-based chess tournaments include participant management, pairing, result recording, standings updates, and final ranking based on tie-break criteria. The activity was implemented through coordination, participant data preparation, tournament configuration, pairing assistance for each round, result verification, and evaluation. ChessManager was used as a digital tournament management platform to improve the efficiency and accuracy of tournament administration. The tournament consisted of seven Swiss-system rounds. The final standings showed that Sukran Aran ranked first with 6.5 points, followed by Sani with 6 points and Paman Yuli with 5.5 points. The assistance demonstrated that combining technical knowledge with digital tournament management can support a more systematic, transparent, and efficient chess competition. In addition to improving the capacity of tournament organizers, the activity strengthened sportsmanship, social interaction, and community engagement among chess players in Banjarmasin.
